Heart Disease

Lifestyle choices can reduce risk

While genetics do play a role in your risk of developing heart disease, lifestyle choices can also reduce risk.

  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Eat low cholesterol foods that are rich in fiber and good cholesterol foods that are rich in good fats like Omega-3 such as fish, avocados, or unrefined coconut oils
  • Exercise regularly for a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate exercise at least 5 days a week
  • Get your cholesterol numbers check regularly, especially if you have a family history of heart disease
  • Quit or avoid smoking
