COVID-19 Update: Symptoms We’ve Seen Firsthand

Apr 7, 2020

We hope that you continue to remain healthy and are safe at home. We are now many weeks into social distancing at this point and, hopefully, this is slowing the transmission of the novel coronavirus in our community. This is a challenging time for all of us and your efforts to continue social distancing are crucial. Thank you for all you are doing and sacrificing.

The physicians and staff at AIM remain on the job, and the clinic is open for virtual visits and in-person office visits for those issues needing immediate physical attention. Please do not hesitate to call us or send a MyChart message with any questions.

We have had several questions regarding how the symptoms of COVID-19 might present. In this email, we offer some guidance in what we have seen.

COVID-19 Symptoms

We have now seen several patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. They have had a variety of symptoms. The most common are fever, cough and sometimes shortness of breath. However, we have also seen gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea, as well as profound fatigue. Below is a chart that can be helpful in differentiating between a cold, the flu, and COVID-19:
