Dr. Kay Khamvanthong

Dr. Khamvanthong (Dr. K) is board certified by the American Academy of Family Practice, and has been taking care of adult patients as a family medicine physician in the outpatient clinic setting and hospital since 2014. She and her husband, a neurologist, relocated from Oklahoma with their son and two daughters to live and practice in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Dr. K chose to join AIM Health because she understands the importance of strong, long-term relationship with patients, and values building collaborative partnerships with patients in her care. While emphasizing wellness and prevention, Dr. K appreciates the AIM Health model of longer visits and a smaller panel of patients to support her ability to provide thoughtful, comprehensive care for acute and chronic illness.

Dr. K’s colleagues describe her as empathetic, friendly and exceptionally experienced. Before going to medical school, she worked as an x-ray technician while in the United States Army Reserve. In addition to her full residency training and board certification in family medicine, she completed two years of a surgical residency before deciding family medicine was her passion. She brings this varied, extensive training and years of clinical practice experience to AIM Health.

Dr. K graduated with a degree in biochemistry from the University of California, Davis. She attended Ross University School of Medicine, earning her doctor of medicine degree in 2009. She completed her family medicine residency at Rush Copley Medical Center and then worked as a hospitalist for six years before transitioning to outpatient adult practice. Outside the office, she enjoys cooking, gardening and spending time with her family. She is also working on her sewing skills and looks forward to exploring her new home here in the Northwest.
