Internal Medicine Doctor

In practicing Internal Medicine for over 20 years, I have come to appreciate the special relationship that can form between doctor and patient.  This relationship, built on mutual trust and respect, is a key factor in helping individuals realize their greatest health potential and quality of life.  In many ways, the doctor-patient relationship represents what is best about practicing primary care medicine, and I personally find it to be one of the most rewarding aspects of being a doctor.

As a primary care physician, I feel it is an honor and privilege to be allowed into people’s lives in ways that most people never experience.  I hold this privilege sacred, and try to treat all my patients with respect and dignity. I invite questions and feedback–often I learn as much from my patients, as they do from me.  I strive to listen to my patients. In taking the time to listen, I feel I gain a deeper understanding of each person’s hopes, fears, and motivations. This is one of the fundamental reasons that practicing at AIM Health is so rewarding as a physician — I am afforded that valuable commodity, time, and am encouraged to utilize that time to best serve each patient in an individualized and compassionate manner.  I am blessed to be surrounded by wonderful colleagues who share in this philosophy and would trust any of them to treat my own family.

In combining a reasoned diagnostic approach and sound medical judgment, I try to provide patients with a clear and understandable path to treating their acute and chronic health conditions.  I enjoy educating patients, explaining medical issues in terms that are understandable and believe that well-informed patients are more engaged in their own health.

I believe that laughter and joy should not be foreign to the doctor’s office, and as such, try to bring a sense of humor with me to work each day.

On the days that I am not in the clinic, I serve as the Medical Director for the Portland Interhospital Physicians Association (Portland IPA), an organization that advocates on behalf of over 3000 physicians in the Portland Metro area, promoting high quality and compassionate care.

I spend my free time with my wife and three sons, getting outdoors, enjoying sporting events, and generally having a good time.  I personally enjoy music, playing guitar, drums, etc. I love sports, and root for the Cubs, the Bears, the Bulls, along with our hometown Blazers and Timbers.
